Question: After pruning the remains of branches broken during the recent snow storm, should I using pruning tar to seal the wounds?
Althought the practice of coating tree wounds has been discouraged for some years, the question still comes up. You may have noted in bulletin # 613 linked in our last alert, http://www.treefarmer.com/images/613.pdf , the coating of tree wounds is discouraged. "Generally, leave pruning cuts dry and untreated."
